Layer 2 Base – backed by Coinbase – has restored block production after a temporary interruption that affected multiple key functions.
According to the official status page, at 8:15 AM, this Layer 2 network experienced a mainnet delay, disrupting deposits/withdrawals, block production, and Flashblocks. About 30 minutes later, the team identified and resolved the issue, while continuing to monitor the situation.
Although the specific cause was not disclosed, the network has been experiencing significant recent activity, largely due to the relaunch of the Base App.
In the relaunch last July, Base App integrated Zora and Farcaster – promoting the creative economy and Decentralized Social Media on this network. As a result, the number of new tokens on the network surged from 6,649 on July 1st to nearly 50,000 by the end of the month.
