Ethereum (ETH) co-founder Vitalik Buterin has returned to the billionaire ranks. According to on-chain information analysis company Arkham Intelligence, his wallet asset value has exceeded $1 billion (approximately 1.39 trillion won) with Ethereum's recent price surge, allowing him to rejoin the 'crypto billionaire' group.
Ethereum reached its annual high of $4,332 (approximately 60.21 million won) per ETH in August 2025, driving Buterin's asset appreciation. The current price has slightly dropped to $4,172 (approximately 58.01 million won), but it remains close to its all-time high of $4,868 (approximately 67.69 million won). Buterin's primary assets are ETH acquired during Ethereum's early mining stage (pre-mine).
He first entered the billionaire ranks in May 2021 at the age of 27. In November of the same year, his assets peaked when ETH reached its highest price. However, after the market's sharp decline in 2022, ETH dropped by over 80%, and Buterin publicly stated that he was no longer a billionaire. But with the recent market recovery, his assets have surged again.
Buterin is also known for large-scale donations. In 2021, he notably donated approximately $1 billion (about 1.39 trillion won) worth of Shiba Inu (SHIB) tokens that were donated to him to the 'CryptoRelief' fund for India's COVID-19 relief.
While Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin (BTC), is often mentioned as the wealthiest person in the crypto industry, due to his unclear identity, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) is considered the actual top asset holder. His net worth is estimated at around $90 billion (approximately 125.1 trillion won). Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong follows with assets of about $15 billion (approximately 20.85 trillion won).
Buterin's asset recovery is analyzed as a result of Ethereum's technological growth and market confidence restoration. If ETH price surpasses its all-time high again, his holdings are likely to see an even greater rebound.
