Sharplink CEO targets bringing $700T traditional finance market on-chain

The ultimate goal for companies holding Ethereum is to transition the structure of the traditional financial market on-chain, according to Joseph Shalom, CEO of Sharplink Gaming (SBET). Speaking at KBW 2025, Shalom stated that his company is looking beyond its original objective of holding 5% of the total Ethereum supply. He emphasized that Sharplink Gaming's competition is not the $4 trillion cryptocurrency market but the $700 trillion traditional financial system, which he aims to make decentralized, digital-native, and capable of instant settlement. Shalom added that reducing the time and cost inefficiencies of traditional finance would eliminate the most significant risks in financial services. He described the key role of crypto-hoarding firms as activating stablecoins, protocols, and institution-specific DeFi within various blockchain ecosystems. Sharplink Gaming is a Nasdaq-listed company that strategically invests in ETH and currently holds 838,000 ETH, valued at approximately $3.86 billion.
